It s a big day for downtown Milwaukee as the Common Council approved a $20 million financing plan for Milwaukee Tool s new office and today, nine years after it was first proposed, construction starts on the Couture apartment tower on the lakefront.
The largest influx ever of jobs to downtown Milwaukee by a suburban firm is coming after the Milwaukee Tool financing plan was approved: The council voted 15-0 to help Brookfield-based Milwaukee Tool redevelop a five-story, 350,000-square-foot office building at 501 W. Michigan St. that could bring 2,000 new hires downtown.
Couture apartment tower construction starts today: Below-grade improvements begin today and a structure will start rising by early 2022, with completion expected by the fall of 2023.
Things will be different this year. There will be nothing virtual, said Boone, executive director at the Washington County Fair Park & Conference Center. We are so excited for this.
The 163rd Washington County Fair is scheduled for July 20-25 at the Washington County Fair Park, 3000 Highway PV, West Bend. Boone said new activities as well as traditional favorites are planned.
Two-time Platinum Award winner Lanco, a five-member country band from Nashville, is scheduled to take the stage at 7 p.m. Thursday July 22. Scheduled to open for Lanco is Rayne Johnson, a modern country artist who mixes soul and pop-rock in with his music.
As things look now, July 9.
That’s when the 26-year-old Gathering on the Green is scheduled to return to Rotary Park in Mequon, organizers announced Tuesday.
Country star Trace Adkins will headline July 9, followed by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Cheap Trick July 10.
“Gathering on the Green organizers are focusing on the safety and comfort of the concert goers as more of our citizens continue to become vaccinated,” officials with the nonprofit organizers, also called Gathering on the Green, wrote in a press release sent Tuesday. “Precautions including extra spacing for seating, sanitizing stations and complimentary masks will be available.”
